Does Temora Vision Need Wi-Fi All the Time?

By Paw Ballet Team
A dropped Wi-Fi connection can make a smart feeder look unavailable in the app. That does not necessarily mean the feeder has stopped recognizing your cats. With Temora Vision, it helps to separate three things: initial setup, the feeding functions that run on the machine, and the remote features that need internet access.
Here is what that distinction means for an ordinary day at home.
Complete setup before relying on the routine
Register your cats, assign their meal compartments, and check the feeding settings while setting up the feeder. Watch the first feeding sessions to confirm that each cat receives the intended meal. Offline recognition does not mean you can skip registration or assume that a new cat already has a meal assigned.
Keep the feeder connected to power. An internet interruption and a power interruption are different situations: the local feeding functions still need electrical power to operate.
Core recognition runs on the feeder
After setup, Temora Vision's core facial recognition and meal access run on the feeder itself. They can continue during an internet interruption while the feeder remains powered.
Meal access still follows the configured feeding settings and the prepared food available to that cat. This does not mean unlimited food, a meal at every approach, or simultaneous feeding for several cats. Temora Vision serves one cat at a time.
The same recognition conditions still matter. Check the initial sessions carefully for cats with nearly identical faces, and keep a separate feeding arrangement if the feeder cannot reliably distinguish them. Losing Wi-Fi does not change which cats have been registered.
Remote features need connectivity
The app's remote view is separate from the feeder's local recognition. Internet access is needed for features such as:
- Checking the live camera view while you are away.
- Receiving remote alerts and feeding-history updates.
- Accessing and managing the feeder remotely through the app.
If a remote view or update is unavailable, do not use that alone to decide whether a cat has eaten. Check the feeder and prepared meals in person, or have the person caring for your cats check them.
Keep a simple interruption checklist
When a connection drops, start with the basics:
- Confirm that the feeder still has power.
- Check the available meals and the settings already in use.
- Observe your cats' next feeding opportunity when possible.
- Use the current support instructions to troubleshoot the connection.
After connectivity returns, check the app's current status before relying on remote viewing or alerts again. Do not assume that every missing notification or history entry has automatically been recovered.
A shared feeder can make everyday meal access easier to manage, but daily care still includes checking food and how each cat is doing. Explore Temora Vision for the product details, or visit Paw Ballet Support for setup and connection help.
